About
McNutt of Donegal
"Family-owned since 1953, McNutt of Donegal weaves luxurious wool and linen products inspired by the landscapes of Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way."
Founded by Bill McNutt in 1953, McNutt of Donegal is one of the few remaining weaving mills in Ireland and has become one of the country's most respected textile brands. Established to provide employment and preserve traditional weaving skills in North West Donegal, the business remains family-owned and operated more than seventy years later.
Located in the coastal village of Downings on the Wild Atlantic Way, McNutt of Donegal draws inspiration from the rugged coastline, rolling hills and natural beauty that surround the mill. These influences can be seen throughout its collections of throws, scarves, cushions, wraps, tableware and home accessories, all designed and woven using premium wool and linen yarns.
Combining traditional weaving expertise with modern design, McNutt's in-house team creates products that are both contemporary and enduring. Sustainability is central to the business, reflected through its B Corp certification, responsible sourcing practices and commitment to creating products designed to last for generations rather than seasons.
Visitors to Downings can explore the mill shop, discover the history of Donegal weaving and experience first-hand one of Ireland's most important surviving textile traditions. Factory experiences and pre-booked group tours are also available, making McNutt of Donegal a desti
