W.ie is a curated guide, not an open business directory. Every business, place and experience is individually reviewed before being selected for inclusion.

Our aim is to feature businesses that offer something genuinely worth discovering and that reflect the quality, character and diversity of Ireland.

What We Look For

Quality and consistency
A strong, dependable standard across the business’s products, services, surroundings and customer experience.

Independent character
Businesses with a distinctive identity, personal story or clear point of difference. We particularly value independent, family-run and Irish-founded businesses.

A worthwhile experience
Places and businesses that customers would feel pleased to have discovered, visited, recommended or shared with others.

Authenticity and originality
A genuine offering with its own personality, rather than something that feels generic, copied or created primarily for mass appeal.

Presentation and attention to detail
Thoughtful branding, imagery, premises, packaging, online presence or customer communication that reflects care and professionalism.

Local or cultural relevance
Businesses that contribute positively to their town, county, community, craft, heritage or Ireland’s wider visitor and retail experience.

Customer care and reputation
Evidence of good service, fair treatment of customers and a generally positive and trustworthy reputation.

Suitability for the W.ie audience
The business must be relevant to the people using W.ie to discover distinctive places to shop, eat, drink, stay, visit and experience across Ireland.

Why Some Businesses May Not Be Selected

Submitting or recommending a business does not guarantee inclusion.

A business may not be selected if:

• It does not currently meet the overall quality or presentation standards of W.ie.
• Its offering is too similar to businesses already featured in the same area or category.
• It does not have enough reliable information, imagery or an established online presence for us to create a suitable listing.
• Its customer feedback or general reputation raises concerns.
• The business appears inactive, inconsistent or difficult for customers to contact or visit.
• It does not fit the current direction, categories or audience of W.ie.
• Including it would weaken the balance, variety or carefully selected nature of the collection.

Our decisions are based on the overall fit of a business rather than one individual factor. Selection is made at the discretion of W.ie, and we may limit the number of businesses featured within a particular category or location.

Businesses that are not selected may be reconsidered in the future as their offering develops or as space becomes available within the collection.
