W.ie Business Listing Terms
Last updated: 25 June 2026
These Terms apply when a business applies for, approves, purchases or maintains a listing on W.ie.
1. Parties
The listing agreement is between:
[FULL COMPANY NAME] LIMITED, trading as W.ie; and
the business, organisation, sole trader or authorised representative identified during application or payment, referred to as the “Business”.
2. Business customers
W.ie listings are intended for commercial promotion.
By ordering a listing, you confirm that:
- you are acting wholly or mainly for business purposes;
- you have authority to enter into the agreement;
- the information supplied is accurate; and
- you have permission to provide all submitted photographs, logos, text and contact details.
3. Application and approval
Payment does not automatically guarantee publication.
All listings remain subject to W.ie’s editorial and suitability review. W.ie may decline an application where the Business:
- does not fit W.ie’s selection criteria;
- supplies insufficient or misleading information;
- presents legal, reputational or safety concerns;
- conflicts with W.ie’s values or audience;
- duplicates an existing listing inappropriately; or
- operates in a category W.ie does not accept.
Where W.ie declines a new paid listing before publication, the listing fee will normally be refunded in full.
4. Listing service
Depending on the package purchased, a listing may include:
- business name and logo;
- hero or gallery images;
- short and long descriptions;
- category and county placement;
- address and map information;
- opening hours;
- contact and website links;
- social-media links;
- facilities and attributes;
- search tags and keywords;
- heritage or feature badges where applicable; and
- inclusion in selected W.ie promotional activity.
The precise presentation, layout, category and position of a listing are determined by W.ie.
5. Search-optimised listing creation
W.ie may prepare and edit listing copy with search visibility and user discovery in mind.
This may include:
- restructuring supplied information;
- writing short and extended descriptions;
- adding relevant categories, tags and search phrases;
- optimising headings and page metadata; and
- using writing or artificial-intelligence tools as part of the editorial process.
W.ie does not guarantee any particular Google ranking, website traffic, enquiry volume, booking level, revenue or other commercial result.
6. Business approval
Where W.ie creates a listing before payment or publication, the Business may be offered the following choices:
Approve and Pay
The Business confirms that it wants the listing to remain on W.ie and purchases the applicable listing package.
Contact Me
The Business asks W.ie to contact it to discuss amendments, listing options or payment.
Remove My Listing
The Business asks W.ie to remove the listing.
W.ie may retain limited administrative records of removal requests where necessary to respect the request and maintain its records.
7. Information supplied by the Business
The Business must ensure that all information supplied is:
- accurate;
- lawful;
- current;
- not misleading;
- not defamatory;
- not discriminatory;
- not copied without permission; and
- compliant with applicable advertising, consumer, licensing and sector-specific rules.
The Business must promptly tell W.ie about material changes, particularly closure, relocation, changed contact details, loss of a licence or significant service changes.
8. Licence to use materials
The Business grants W.ie a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence for the duration of the listing agreement to:
- reproduce;
- resize;
- crop;
- edit;
- format;
- display;
- distribute; and
- promote
the Business’s name, logo, photographs, videos, descriptions and other supplied materials for the purpose of operating and promoting W.ie and the Business’s listing.
This includes reasonable use on W.ie’s website, search results, emails, printed promotional materials and W.ie social-media channels.
The Business retains ownership of its original intellectual property.
9. Publicly available material
Where W.ie has created an unpaid preview listing using publicly available information, the relevant Business may request corrections or removal.
W.ie will consider reasonable evidence of ownership or authority before making significant changes.
10. Fees
The applicable fee is the price shown at the time of purchase or stated in a written offer from W.ie.
Unless expressly stated otherwise:
- fees are payable in advance;
- fees relate to promotional listing services, not sales commission;
- W.ie does not guarantee enquiries or sales;
- bank or currency-conversion charges are the payer’s responsibility; and
- no VAT will be added while W.ie is not VAT registered.
Suggested payment-page wording:
No VAT is currently charged. W.ie is not presently registered for VAT. If our VAT status changes, applicable future charges will be shown clearly before purchase.
Do not say that a price “includes VAT” when no VAT is being charged.
11. Founding Business offer
A Founding Business package may include benefits described on the relevant offer page, such as:
- a two-year listing period;
- Founding Business recognition;
- enhanced profile content;
- selected launch promotion;
- Founding Member window or digital assets; and
- a stated number of complimentary event listings.
Only benefits expressly included in the purchased offer are guaranteed.
Founding status does not guarantee permanent inclusion if the Business breaches these Terms, closes, materially changes or no longer meets W.ie’s standards.
12. Complimentary event listings
Where a package includes complimentary event listings:
- each event remains subject to review;
- unused allowances have no cash value;
- allowances cannot normally be transferred;
- political, unlawful, misleading or unsuitable events may be declined;
- the organiser remains responsible for all event information; and
- complimentary listings must be used within the period stated in the package.
13. Listing period
The listing begins on the date stated in the order confirmation or, if no date is stated, the date on which the paid listing is published.
For a two-year Founding Business offer, the listing will remain active for 24 months from that date, unless suspended or terminated under these Terms.
14. Renewal
A listing will not automatically renew unless the checkout page and order confirmation expressly state that automatic renewal applies.
Before the end of a fixed listing period, W.ie may invite the Business to renew at the price and on the terms then available.
Recommendation for launch: do not use automatic renewal for the first Founding Business offer. Invite each business to renew manually.
15. Cancellation by the Business
Because the listing service is purchased for business purposes, no statutory consumer cooling-off period normally applies.
However, W.ie may offer the following commercial cancellation policy:
- before editorial work begins: full refund;
- after editorial work begins but before publication: refund less reasonable work already completed;
- after publication: no refund for a change of mind, except at W.ie’s discretion.
A Business may request removal of its listing at any time, but removal does not automatically create a right to a refund.
This does not affect rights arising where W.ie has materially failed to provide the purchased service.
16. Corrections and amendments
Reasonable factual corrections are included during the listing period.
W.ie may charge for substantial rewrites, repeated redesign requests, extensive image replacement or work outside the purchased package. Any additional charge will be agreed before the work is carried out.
17. Suspension and removal
W.ie may suspend or remove a listing where:
- fees remain unpaid;
- the Business breaches these Terms;
- information is false or misleading;
- the Business ceases trading;
- W.ie receives credible safety, fraud or legal concerns;
- the Business’s conduct could materially harm W.ie or its users;
- publication could infringe another party’s rights; or
- W.ie is legally required to act.
Where reasonably possible, W.ie will contact the Business before permanent removal and give it an opportunity to respond.
Immediate suspension may occur where there is an urgent legal, safety, fraud or reputational concern.
18. Business responsibility
The Business is solely responsible for:
- its goods and services;
- pricing;
- customer service;
- bookings and cancellations;
- refunds;
- licences and insurance;
- regulatory compliance;
- health and safety;
- accessibility claims;
- competitions and promotions;
- taxes; and
- contracts with its customers.
19. No exclusivity
Unless W.ie agrees otherwise in writing, listings are non-exclusive.
W.ie may list or promote other businesses operating in the same county, category or market.
The purpose of W.ie is to curate a strong selection of worthwhile businesses. Being featured alongside another suitable business does not breach the listing agreement.
20. Reviews and user comments
Where W.ie introduces reviews, recommendations or user-submitted comments, W.ie may moderate or remove material in accordance with its moderation policy.
W.ie does not guarantee that all feedback about a Business will be favourable.
21. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Subject to that, W.ie’s total liability arising from a listing agreement will not exceed the total listing fee paid by the Business for the period giving rise to the claim.
W.ie is not liable for:
- loss of profits;
- loss of anticipated sales;
- loss of business opportunity;
- loss of goodwill;
- indirect or consequential loss;
- search-engine ranking changes;
- third-party platform changes;
- inaccurate information supplied by the Business; or
- a visitor’s decision not to contact or purchase from the Business.
22. Indemnity
The Business will be responsible for reasonable losses, claims or costs suffered by W.ie because materials supplied by the Business:
- infringe intellectual-property rights;
- are defamatory;
- are unlawful;
- contain false claims; or
- breach applicable advertising or consumer law.
This clause applies only to the extent that the issue results from the Business’s act, omission or supplied material.
23. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Northern Ireland law.
The parties should first attempt to resolve disputes in good faith through written communication.
If no resolution is reached, the courts of Northern Ireland will have jurisdiction unless the parties agree otherwise.
